E-billing
The Town of Carnduff bills our water & sewer utility monthly. If you would like to receive your bill by email, simply fill out this form and we will get you switched over!
Please note, bills are usually emailed the first or second business day of the month and will come from the email address: invoicing@carnduff.ca We have found that from time to time these bills get sent to the junk file of some email users. If you don't see your bill right away take a quick peak at your junk/spam folder and if you still can't find it, please contact us!
Water Leaks
The water meters and system we use to read them has the ability to detect potential water leaks. When we read meters each month, a report is created letting us know who has or had had a water leak. If a leak is detected at your property, a note will be placed on your water bill. If you receive your bill by email, a separate email will be sent to you notifying you of the leak.
How does the system detect a leak?
The water meter system breaks a 24 hour period down into 15 minutes intervals. Throughout a 24 hour period, there are 96 of the 15 minute intervals. A leak is detected dependent on the number of intervals the meter has water running through it.
Type of leak?
There are 3 types of leaks that are detected. They are:
Continuous Leak -- when there is water running through the meter in each of the 96 intervals
Intermittent Leak -- when there is water running through the meter in 50 to 95 of the intervals
Leak has Stopped -- you previously had a leak but it has now stopped.
Can I check my meter myself to see if it has a leak?
You sure can. Take a strong flashlight to where your meter is. Flip open the top black cover and shine a bright flashlight on it. You will see a sequence of numbers appear. After it has ran through its sequence, you may see a little water tap picture appear. If this appears and is flashing then you have an intermittent leak. If it appears and is constant, it means there is a continuous leak. Please note: if you have a leak and you have fixed it and are trying to check your meter to see if it is fixed, it could take a 24 hour cycle before it will reset and stop flagging.
